The Internet can provide instant information for teens on health, but only it they can spell. A University of Michigan study finds misspelled words, ambiguous search terms and an imprecise approach to scanning a Web site often prevented teens from finding the information they sought. The study, published in the online Journal of Medical Internet Research, suggests the importance of teaching teens better search strategies, as well as encouraging Web site designers to target teens. "Long paragraphs, too many links and difficult vocabulary all make it more likely that teens won't find the information they need, even if it's within the site," says study author Derek Hansen.
FLFLHTC-Damn do you think we don't spend enough time on teaching them the basics such as the three R's!

MISSOULA, Montana - Ford Lund and Rae Bauer do more than just shop and work at Wal-Mart. Last Saturday, they held their nuptials there.  "We met here, we work here, we bought our cake here and our rings.  Wal-Mart is our family," said Lund.  The pair met when they worked together in the garden department.  Their wedding was held on the front lawn of the store.  Co-workers were granted a special break to attend the ceremony and they applauded when the newlyweds kissed.  The couple then had their wedding photos taken at the store's portrait studio. The day did have one difficulty though.  "We lost the rings, and we are still not sure where they are at," said Bauer.  A member of the Wal-Mart family quickly loaned them rings so they could go through with the ceremony.

The trial of six members of the Bandidos motorcycle club began yesterday with the Crown's announcement that some charges against the accused are expected to be tossed out because the prosecution has dropped a police informant from its list of witnesses.

Prosecutor Andrée Marchand made the announcement in a Laval courtroom specially modified for the trial to address security concerns.

Montreal police used the witness during Operation Amigo, their investigation of the Bandidos, which led to the arrests of 62 alleged members and associates in June 2002.

"I was surprised. But in terms of why, go ask the Crown." said Barrasso, who is representing defendant Normand Whissel who is expected to have about half of the 17 charges he faces dropped.

Marchand was vague when she explained the sudden change in prosecution strategy to Justice Pierre Tessier. On the insistence from defence lawyers, she merely said she wanted to avoid bogging down the trial in lengthy delays and that using the witness would probably generate time-consuming motions and objections from the defence. She also confirmed the Crown has no intention of using any evidence the witness provided during the police investigation into the Bandidos, including videotaped statements.

There have been reports that the informant recently decided he simply would refuse to testify in court.

There are 237 witnesses listed by the Crown along with fromer Bandidos turned rat, Sylvain Beaudry. Beaudry recently pleaded guilty to six charges, including attempted murder and drug trafficking and received an eight-year sentence.

Charges of conspiracy to commit murder, gangsterism and drug trafficking are expected to be dropped. But dozens of other criminal accusations still stand. The court is awaiting confirmation from the provincial attorney-general's office before the charges can be officially dropped.

Most of the other people arrested in Operation Amigo have pleaded guilty to the charges.

In 1953 Massey-Harris and Harry Ferguson merged to form Massey-Harris-Ferguson Limited. Later this was changed to "Massey-Ferguson". In 1958 the company acquired F. Perkins Ltd of England who was the leading diesel engine producer at that time. This gave the MF company a ready source for diesel engines.

The MF-35 was first built in 1960 and was available in a gas or diesel version. Follow-on tractors were the MF-50, MF65 and MF-85. Massey-Ferguson went on to make many models of popular tractors and continues today.

Word of the Day

trichotillomania \trih-kuh-tih-luh-MAY-nee-uh\ noun

: an abnormal desire to pull out one's hair
Example sentence:
Randolph's affliction with trichotillomania left him with an unfortunate array of bald spots along the crown of his head.
Did you know?
The word "trichotillomania" derives from the Greek "trich-" ("hair") and "tillein" ("to pull, pluck"), along with the suffix "-mania" (from "mainesthai," meaning "to be mad"). People suffering from trichotillomania will routinely pluck hair from the scalp, eyebrows, eyelashes or other parts of the body, usually impulsively but sometimes with careful deliberation (such as by using tweezers). Some researchers believe that it may be a form of obsessive-compulsive disorder. The word for this condition first appeared in English around the dawn of the 20th century (it's generally thought to have been first coined in French by a dermatologist named François Hallopeau). It has been only recently, however, that the condition has been given significant attention by medical researchers.
