LONDON - Six British men have filed
lawsuits against Sky TV for fooling them into kissing a man that
appeared to be a woman. The contestants hoped to win $17,000 and a
week on a yacht with the sultry brunette who starred in the reality
show, "There's Something About Miriam." The young men say
they were told to impress "her" by performing macho and
romantic acts, such as intimate massages, caressing and cuddling,
holding hands and kissing. But they were horrified to learn after
three weeks of filming that Miriam is a man, said to be a planning a
sex change. All six contestants walked out and banded together to
sue producers and try to stop the show being aired. Their lawsuit
claims defamation, conspiracy to commit sexual assault, breach of
contract and personal injury by way of psychological and emotional
damage. The Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago says Gary Gaugher's federal lawsuit can proceed but must only focus on whether he was falsely arrested. The ruling undercut Gaugher's lawsuit which also alleged that he was wrongfully prosecuted. Gaugher spent three years in prison for the murder of his parents, including nine months on Death Row. But a state appellate court threw out his alleged confession in 1996 and he was freed. In 1997, two members of the Outlaws motorcycle gang were sent to prison for the murders.

Ungrateful bastard Robert Tuchenhagen, who's running for the council seat in McKellar Ward, says he was shocked this weekend to find the Hell's Angel's clubhouse on Heron Street displaying several of his campaign signs. Tuchenhagen says he removed the signs he found at ground level on Saturday, but returned to find more posted on the second storey of the building. He says repeated efforts to contact members of the biker gang have failed. The former McIntyre ward councillor says he has no idea why the Hell's Angels have singled him out. But he says its the kind of support he neither needs nor desires. Curt Hennig Harley-Davidson, Inc. (NYSE:HDI) is an American motorcycle

| palpable
\PAL-puh-bul\ adjective 1 : capable of being touched or felt : tangible *2 : easily perceptible : noticeable, manifest Example sentence: There was a palpable excitement in the air as the children donned their costumes in preparation for Halloween trick-or-treating. Did you know? The word "palpable" has been used in English since the 14th century. It derives from the Latin word "palpare," meaning "to stroke" or "to caress." Although "perceptible" is synonymous with "palpable," there is a slight difference between the two. "Perceptible" applies to what can be discerned by the senses in general (as in "a perceptible difference in sound to a careful listener"), whereas "palpable," as its Latin root suggests, applies mostly to what has physical substance or to what is obvious and unmistakable ("the two fabrics had a palpable difference in quality"). If you are looking for a synonym that implies a more physical nature, then try "tangible," which suggests what is capable of being handled or grasped both physically and mentally ("no tangible evidence of UFOs"). http://www.merriam-webster.com/map_new.htm |
