Iguanas can be the best of pets. They can also be the worst of
pets. How they turn out depends largely on how much time you spend with
them, how well you work with and understand them, the individual iguana's
temperament, and what your expectations are of iguanas in general.
Iguanas reach a total length of 5-6 feet within three to four years (often
making them longer than their owners). The body itself only reaches 22-24
inches in length. The rest of the length is in the tail. And that tail is
a vital part of the iguana -- used in thermoregulation (how they regulate
their body temperature), balance, and defense.
Some iguana owners make the big mistake of believing that because the
iguana's body is only 2 feet long, they only need to provide an enclosure
that's 2-3 feet long. Wrong. An iguana needs an enclosure 1.5-2 times its
total length, so an iguana that's 6 feet long needs an enclosure that's at
least 9 feet long. Many people realize too late just why so many
experienced iguana keepers call these lizards giant green iguanas.
Iguanas For Dummies, by Melissa Kaplan, gives you expert advice on
selecting a reptile and taking care of your fascinating pet throughout its
life.

Breaking News: Lex Luger Arrested Story By: Ben Johnson Lawrence Pfohl,
wrestling's 'Lex Luger,' was arrested Monday morning on DUI and other
related charges. Authorities made the arrest on 1-575, reports the Atlanta
Journal- Constitution.
A Cobb County officer found Pfohl stopped on the side of the interstate
highway. The officer, upon investigating the car, discovered Pfohl slumped
over his steering wheel.
The former pro wrestler eventually woke up and drove away and the officer
called authorities for assistance. He was later taken into custody on
charges that included DUI, driving on an expired tag, alteration of tag,
no proof of insurance and having an open container.
Use automatic withdrawal on every
bill as possible. This not only includes monthly items but things such as
insurance. The main idea here is to SAVE STAMPS. A typical household can
save over 40-50 dollars per year on stamp costs by using Automatic
withdrawal.

TOMAHAWK - Rumors aside, the Tomahawk Fall Ride will go on as planned in
September but with a new group of organizers and possibly a shift in
focus.
Longtime organizer Cheyann Habeck resigned Monday and about 10 more
Tomahawk Fall Ride Committee members followed suit this week amidst
controversy over the direction of the event, she said. Habeck and the
Fall Ride Committee have coordinated the Fall Ride parade and events at
Sara Park. Another committee, which included members from Tomahawk
businesses, the chamber of commerce and the city have coordinated
downtown street dances.
About the Tomahawk Fall Ride The event began more than 23 years ago as
an opportunity to enjoy the fall foliage of north central Wisconsin
while riding Harley-Davidson's new fleet of bikes. Formerly called the
Tomahawk Fall Colorama Ride, the event slowly evolved to include food,
entertainment and tours of Harley's Tomahawk plants, which are used to
manufacture parts, windshields and side cars.
Last year, the event drew about 40,000 people, who spent an estimated
$19 million in the region ranging from Wausau to Eagle River, according
to the Tomahawk Regional Chamber of Commerce.
The event also raised nearly $160,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy
Association, the Fall Ride's traditional beneficiary.
This year's Fall Ride events, which will go on as planned despite a
shakeup among event organizers, begins Sept. 15 and runs through Sept.
18.
One change appears certain, Harley-Davidson will play a greater role in
organizing the event, which traditionally has been organized in large
part by Harley-Davidson employees with the blessing of company
officials.
Christine Brown, executive vice president of the Tomahawk Regional
Chamber of Commerce, said Harley-Davidson has agreed to run the Fall
Ride in large part because it wants greater control over aspects of the
event, which reflects strongly on its image.
Brown said Harley-Davidson has hired a coordinator for the event. The
coordinator has organized other Harley-Davidson events, including its
2003, 100th-anniversary bash in Milwaukee.
PEORIA - A federal judge on Thursday ordered a
member of the Hells Angels motorcycle club held in custody of U.S.
marshals pending his trial in March.
David G. "Pulley" Ohlendorf, 39, of New Lenox had sought to be
released on house arrest and electronic monitoring pending trial but
U.S. Magistrate Judge John Gorman said he had not overcome a presumption
that he was a risk of flight or a danger to the community.
His attorney, Mark Eisenberg of Madison, Wis., pointed to testimony from
a friend who said Ohlendorf was a good friend, a good father to his two
children and someone who didn't believe in drugs.
But Assistant U.S. Attorney Tate Chambers said that wasn't the point.
Rather, the prosecutor noted Ohlendorf was allegedly involved in plots
to murder members of a rival club, the Outlaws. As such, he was a
"dangerous member of a very dangerous organization."
The Department of Livestock went ahead and
ignored public opinion (again) and approved their plan to vaccinate
buffalo that are captured on the western boundary of Yellowstone
National Park. Buffalo calves and yearlings - ages 4 to 24 months - will
be subjected to injections of RB51, a brucellosis vaccine that was
designed for use in livestock, and is not 100% effective on either
cattle or wild buffalo. So, after already being scared to death from
being hazed and captured, and separated from their mothers, they will be
put through even further duress. Welcome to the world.
The DOL claims that vaccinating wild buffalo (with an ineffective
vaccine, mind you) will help "reduce the prevalence of brucellosis
within the bison herd and to reduce the risk of transmission of
brucellosis from bison to cattle." To date there has never been a
documented case of a wild buffalo transmitting brucellosis to cattle.
The DOL's press release announcing that they had approved their
vaccination plan stated that they received only 66 individual comments,
and that only 10 comments were received on behalf of organizations. This
number has been seriously deflated because when we ask you to comment on
something, and you do, they lump all of these together -likely thousands
of comments - as one.
This underscores the need for us to speak from the heart, and
personalize our thoughts, whether writing to decision-makers or the
media.
It's also important to note that the DOL claims to have hazed 1,500
buffalo back into the Park during the last two seasons, and they claim
to have hazed 132 buffalo this year. This is a lie.
There have not been that many buffalo coming out of the park, the DOL is
simply hazing the same buffalo over and over and over again. They are
relentless and they fabricate the truth to suit their own purposes.
Think about these calves and yearlings who will be separated from their
mothers, separated from the herd, all in the cattle industry's wicked
effort to hoard the grasses of our public lands for fattening their
cattle. After pondering this, and armed with everything you know to be
true, consider contacting the DOL and letting them know how you feel.

Arugula, also known as rocket, rucola, and
roquette, is one of the great greens. It has spicy, bitter, and peppery-mustardy
flavors.
Arugula originated in the Mediterranean and has long been a favorite in
Italian cooking. The ancient Romans ate it for good luck. It was also an
ingredient in various aphro disiac potions since the first century AD.
This leafy vegetable supplies folate (folic acid) and some calcium which
is unusual in a salad green--eight times as much of this bone-building
mineral as iceberg lettuce.
Arugula is a cruciferous vegetable--a member of the same family as
cabbage and broccoli--and like all such vegetables, it contains
cancer-fighting phytochemicals called indoles.
