Don't know if this is true..... but it sounds good!
Katie Couric, while interviewing a Marine sniper, asked:

"What do you feel when you shoot a terrorist?"

The Marine shrugged and replied:

"Recoil."

PITTSBURGH, -- The University of Pittsburgh has received $3.7 million in federal funding for its efforts to learn how to regrow human limbs. The research at the university's McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine might benefit troops who must undergo single or multiple amputations dur- ing war or other conflicts. "We're encouraged by research results and recent discoveries, and we believe this goal is attainable," Susan Braunhut, a cell biologist at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell, told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. The University of Massachusetts is part of the project, funded by the Defense Advanced Research Pro- jects Agency. Dr. Stephen Badylak, director of the Center for Preclinical Tissue Engineering at the McGowan Institute, is heading the consortium of research groups working on the project. "As a fetus, a human can regrow limbs just like a salamander," Badylak said. "We lose that ability as we go through fetal development. Our goal is to resurrect the fetal regenerative abilities."

Sarasota police investigating officer
By TODD RUGER
SARASOTA COUNTY -- Off-duty Sarasota police Lt. Lucius Bonner's untucked shirt was against the dress policy at Gilligan's Bar and Grill, but he argued with the bouncer who asked him to leave the club.

Bonner then struggled with the two Sarasota County deputies arresting him for trespassing after they asked him to leave the Siesta Key bar at least 10 times, reports state.

But Bonner, 43, was released from custody after the bar's owner declined to pursue charges, Sarasota County Sheriff's Office records state.

Now, the Sarasota Police Department has started an internal investigation into the arrest and subsequent un-arrest of Bonner, a 22-year veteran of the force.

Bonner said Friday he could not comment because of the internal investigation.

"There's two sides to every story," he said.

The April 22 incident started just before midnight, when the club's bouncer told Bonner that the untucked shirt was not allowed, the reports state.

The officer became upset and said his clothes weren't a gang-member style, so the bouncer asked Bonner to leave the bar. Two deputies stepped into the verbal fight.

Bonner then argued with the deputies, who told him the bar had the right to ask people to leave.

"Bonner explained he was law enforcement and knew the law," the report states.

When the deputy again told Bonner that he needed to leave or face an arrest for trespassing, the off-duty officer said he wasn't going to leave.

"You are not going to arrest me," the report quotes Bonner as saying.

The deputy told Bonner he was under arrest, "and after a brief struggle, Bonner was handcuffed," the report states.

When the deputies talked to the bar manager, he told them he didn't want an arrest made and would sign a waiver of prosecution.

Discarded roll-on deodorant containers make an excellent insect repellent applicator. It enables you to keep "bug spray" off your hands and out of your eyes. Snap off the plastic top or snap out the ball, rinse out the bottle and refill with your favorite liquid insect repellant.

Remember a gift doesn't always come with a price tag.
Some of the most special and precious gifts are a Big 'ole bear hug, or a gift of service. Doing some- thing for someone just out of the blue may mean more then any material gift. A homemade card or made up poem of how you really feel can be very rewarding to that person. Plus it's a gift that keeps on giving...

You may think that setting it up on the grass is a good and safe choice but grass can't absorb an impact well, so falling can be just as dangerous as on cement. So a good choice would be to install it over wood chips if possible. If not grass would be the next best thing.

Black clothing tends to look brown after several washings.
To restore the black color, add coffee or strong tea to the rinse water.

Civil libertarians rally behind nude bather
The Queensland Council of Civil Liberties says police should drop the charge against a Sunshine Coast man who was caught bathing nude on a public beach.

Ken Wenzel is due to appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates court tomorrow after being charged with wilful exposure at Third Bay Beach at Coolum, which many say is an unofficial clothes-free area.

Queensland Council of Civil Liberties president Michael Cope says arresting people for nude bathing in isolated areas is a waste of police resources and taxpayers' money could be put to better use.

"Nudity does no harm to anybody, particularly when you know it's an isolated beach which is accepted as being such," he said.

"To criminalise that sort of conduct is just ridiculous.

"The police have got better things to do with their time catching real crooks."

Mr Cope says the State Government should set aside legal nude beaches.

"They're just picking and choosing where they're going to charge people," he said.

"Whereas, what the Government should do is establish what are clearly nudist beaches so that people can go there.

"So far as the council is concerned, Mr Wenzel isn't doing anybody any harm.

"Therefore, it's not appropriate to charge him with a criminal offence."
A kitten's eyes open when he's between 7 and 14 days old. At first, every kitten has blue eyes. At about 1 month old, his eyes begin to change color. Usually, his eyes settle into their new and permanent color by about 3 months. However, the color may continue to intensify until as he matures.

A kitten's eye color is a gift of nature. Those hypnotic tones run the color spectrum from lemony amber to iridescent green to ice blue, and vary from kitten to kitten. Some kittens even have odd eyes; each eye is a different color, for instance an amber and a blue or a yellow and a green. Your kitten's eye color is genetically related to his coat color.

HERALD STAFF REPORT Sarasota Commissioners have agreed to construct a 4˝ mile underground transmission line to move landfill wastewater, from the county's landfill in Nokomis to a City of Venice plant for treatment.

Commissioners approved a $563,152.80 contract with E. T. MacKenzie of Florida Inc., according to a county press release.

The wastewater, also known as leachate, is rainwater that has filtered through the garbage buried in the landfill.
The leachate is collected in a storage tank and transported by tanker trucks.

As many as 25 to 30 truckloads of leachate are hauled daily six days per week during the rainy season and one or two truckloads per day in the dry season. A truckload contains 6,000 gallons; 25-30 truckloads equates to roughly
630 tons.

The pipeline will reduce tanker truck traffic and noise on Knights Trail Road. The possibility for roadway spills is also eliminated.

Sarah MacDonald The StarPhoenix Monday, May 08, 2006 A Saskatoon couple wants the city to crack down on the wearing of gang clothing in public, especially that worn by the Hells Angels.

They've written a letter to Mayor Don Atchison and city council, seeking a ban on gang members wearing their gang clothing in civic buildings.

Robert and Patricia Rogers said they attended Premier 2005, an evening of food sampling, wine tasting and socializing, at TCU Place last September. The tickets to the September event stated that the dress code was "business attire."

The Rogers recalled that most people were well-dressed, but there were four notable exceptions -- four members of the Hells Angels were at Premier 2005, wearing their jackets with the Hells Angels crests and logos.

"For them to be there in a prestigious public building, it's intimidating," Robert Rogers said Saturday. "These people are flaunting their membership in that club. I just don't think that a public venue like that should allow known criminal gangs to be flaunting their colours."

The Rogers thought about writing to Atchison about the appearance of the bikers. When eight members of the Bandido bikers gang were killed near London, Ont., in April, they wrote their letter.

The letter, dated April 26 and going to city council tonight, urges enforcement of dress codes in civic places to prevent intimidation from gang members.

"We would appreciate city council taking a stand on this issue and instruct management of TCU Place, that wearing clothing flaunting a business of crime is not permitted in our public civic building," the letter states.
"Allowing criminal colours, in effect condones these activities within our society."

Rogers noted that Kelowna, B.C., banned gang members from wearing their colours in public, an example he hopes Saskatoon will copy.

"As soon as the town of Kelowna banned the wearing of (gang) colours in public places, that solved the problem.
You can't tell a biker from a non-biker when they're not wearing the colours. So the level of tension goes down and there isn't the confrontation," he said.

"I just think our society is far too lenient in dealing with these people," Robert Rogers said. "If the public don't take a stance, then nothing happens."

Turf wars re-cycled: Now it's Pagans vs. Outlaws
By KITTY CAPARELLA
The Pagans and Outlaws - the latest combination of competing outlaw motorcycle clubs to spar over Philly's turf - both showed off armies of 100 bikers on the weekend, but averted any conflict, according to law enforcement sources.

On Saturday, the Outlaws threw a party for a prospective chapter in Kensington, inviting 100 Outlaw bikers - most from the east coast - who stopped at favorite biker haunts on South Street and elsewhere, according to biker and law enforcement sources.

Yesterday, more than 100 Pagans, two by two on their Harleys, roared up to Kensington to the Warlocks headquarters, on Frankford Avenue near Norris Street, about a mile, or three minutes, from the Outlaws' site, Somerset Street near Amber.

The Pagans and Warlocks met about two hours to show their alignment against the Outlaws, the sources said.

"The Outlaws are in town, and they're not going anywhere," said a source close to the Outlaws.

"The Pagans chased the Hells Angels out of town. The same thing will happen to the Outlaws," said another source.

The Outlaws are new to town after onetime Warlock Thomas Zaroff, now awaiting sentencing on drug charges, led eight Warlocks to join the Outlaws last fall.

Last Nov. 6, the Pagans, who consider themselves the hometown team, and the Outlaws faced off against each other for 30 tense minutes during the Toys for Tots Run before police broke it up.

After yesterday's meeting with the Warlocks, the Pagans rode down to Cookies Bar, on Oregon near 10th, where the 10th and Oregon Streets gang hangs out.

Members of 10th and Oregon are suspects in the 1999 assassination attempt of Steven "Gorilla" Mondevergine, regional head of the Pagans. Mondevergine, who was shot multiple times, nearly died. No one was arrested in the incident.

During the Pagans' one-hour stop-over, Mondevergine talked intently with non-bikers outside Cookies. Pagans walked inside the bar to show their force to the street gang, according to a biker source. The Pagans ended the run at Oasis Bar, on Essington Avenue near Passyunk.
