~~~~
June 2-5, 2005 Brattleboro, VT http://www.strollingoftheheifers.org
/index.php 802-257-0249 Strolling of the Heifers is a celebration of cows, farmers, artists, and the sustainable practices that nurture and preserve families, communities and the rural way of life.
The Strolling of the Heifers Parade and Festival is the Green Mountain State's light-hearted version of Spain’s Running of the Bulls. No need for red capes though!
In the past, Strolling of the Heifers parade and festival has drawn over 75 bovine beauties, thousands of spectators and world attention.
Here is a great way to get your Jacuzzi sparkling clean, get yourself some automatic dishwashing detergent (Cascade, Electrosol, etc., preferably with bleach). Fill your tub as full as possible without overflowing with hot water.
Depending on the size of your tub, put anywhere from 3 to 6 cups of detergent into the full "hot" tub and turn it on. Keep the jets on for 20-30 minutes. You won't get the "Bubbles" because the detergent doesn't bubble. You won't believe how your tub sparkles. No more ring around the Jacuzzi! For your regular tub, let sit for a few hours then clean it out with soft brush that you use for cleaning.
Candle Wax Removed From Wood Soften the wax with a hair dryer. Remove wax with a paper towel and wash with a solution of vinegar and water.
SLUGBURGER FESTIVAL
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
July 6-9, 2005 Corinth, MS http://www.corinth.ms 662-287-5269 This summer make your way to the 18th annual Slugburger Festival held in Historic Downtown Corinth. A one-of-a-kind favorite, named in honor of a unique "burger," featuring three days of entertainment, arts, crafts, carnival rides, and slugburger samplings.
If you're not up to sampling the main course at this event, you should at least stick around for the entertainment. For those who have not sampled this local delicacy, featured in many local diners, do not be alarmed. Slugburgers are not made from the terrestrial gastropod mollusk of the same name.
Locally, slugburgers have been overtly, or covertly, eaten for as long as most living Corinthians can remember. A slugburger is a burger made of a mixture of beef and some form of cheaper breading extender which is then deep-fat fried to a golden brown instead of grilled as a common hamburger. In earlier days, cornmeal was commonly used as an extender in slugburgers and animal fat was used in the frying. The standard garnish for a slugburger is mustard, pickle and an ample dose of onion. Sounds wonderful!

Nudism: is it time to grin and bare it?
Scottish beaches get rave reviews in a new book on naturism. A fully clothed Adrian Turpin investigates Scotland and nudism — an unlikely mix? You might
think so but Nick Mayhew, the author of the naturist guidebook Bare Britain, is out to correct a few
misconceptions. “Up until 100 years ago, when people went swimming in Scotland they would have stripped off,” he says. “Look at Rob Roy. Remember Liam Neeson famously swimming in the nude?” It may come as a shock to discover that Rob Roy MacGregor was a proto-naturist, skinny-dipping between skirmishes, sunning himself in the altogether, hands on hips by the banks of Loch
Voil. But the rest of what Mayhew, a 36-year-old London-based travel writer, had to say this week was even more surprising.
Scotland’s beaches are apparently a naturist’s paradise. “As someone who has written a naturist guide to Europe, I can say that Scotland is the most beautiful place in it,” says Mayhew. “For me, it’s a wilderness thing. It’s nice having your own bit of wilderness.
ADELAIDE'S simmering bikie war could erupt into a full-scale showdown at any time, gang sources have told the Sunday Mail.'And innocent bystanders may be hurt or even killed, they have warned."I have a really strong gut feeling that something big is going to happen soon to save face in the outlaw scene,"
one gang insider said."It (the feud) will never stop."
His comments come just days after members of the Hells Angels and Rebels clashed – with shots fired – during the Adelaide Dance Music Awards at AAMI Stadium.
As police from the Operation Avatar bikie gangs unit continue to investigate last Monday's incident, it has also been revealed:THE feud has its genesis in a shooting at a city hotel in 1998.AN expert on bikie gang culture claimed there would be further reprisals – "there is no doubt".The revelations come as more than 30 Gypsy Jokers staged a "run" from their Wingfield clubhouse to Wallaroo yesterday in memory of member Steven "Fly"
Hydon, who was shot dead outside the Weeroona Hotel on May 29 last year.
The bikie gang source said it would take "very little" for a similar situation to the AAMI Stadium clash to ignite "something big".
"I wouldn't say I'd sit there expecting it but I'd say it would be highly probable given similar circumstances," he said.
The source said the ongoing feud began seven years ago when Rebels members bashed a Hells Angel in the Heritage Hotel, city, before he shot and wounded two of them and a female bystander.
"It really just started as a minor dispute which escalated into a back-and-forth payback for hurting and killing each club's members," he said.
Tensions between the rival clubs are also believed to be linked to the bombing of the Rebels' Brompton clubhouse in July 1999 and the shooting deaths of three Rebels outside their Wright St clubrooms in October that same year.
A turf war between the two gangs and their links with several city nightclubs – including Heaven and Rise – over who provides security guards is also believed to be a factor.
Monash University criminologist and recognised expert on bikie gangs Dr Arthur Veno warned of more reprisals ."What has happened will not go unanswered," he said. "There will be further incidents."Dr
Veno, who has documented gangs for almost two decades, said under club codes conflicting members and affilitates must work through disagreements privately – not in the public arena."The kind of actions that have happened in Adelaide – the shootings in public – is considered a gross breach of their codes," he said."It is incredibly stupid, this incident. It is the most idiotic and damaging behaviour the clubs could engage in."
On Wednesday, Detective Inspector Graham Goodwin admitted police had no idea the rival gangs were feuding until the dance music awards confrontation.
Det-Insp Goodwin confirmed Heaven nightclub had organised several tables at the awards, where Hells Angels members were sitting.Members and associates of the Rebels were seated at a table booked by Rise nightclub, he said."This has caused quite a considerable amount of concern in the community," Det-Insp Goodwin said.
Police Minister Kevin Foley said the Goverment was "unwavering in its commitment to cracking down on the scourge of bikie gangs".
Case closed in Altamont
death Fatal stabbing ended a Stones concert in 1969 By HENRY K. LEE San Francisco Chronicle OAKLAND, CALIF. - More than three decades after the killing brought a dark cloud over the 1960s free-love era, Alameda County sheriff's investigators have shot down a theory that a second Hells Angel took part in the fatal stabbing of a Berkeley man that ended the Rolling Stones' infamous concert at the Altamont Speedway.
Meredith Hunter, 18, described by friends as a flashy dresser with a big Afro, was swarmed by members of the Hells Angels motorcycle club on Dec. 6, 1969, as the Stones performed Under My Thumb.
Alan Passaro, a then-21-year-old Hells Angel hired as a security guard for the free event, was arrested and tried in the slaying, but a jury found him not guilty of first-degree murder in January 1971. The panel concluded that Passaro acted in self-defense because Hunter was carrying a gun in the front row.
The front-row melee was caught on tape as part of the movie Gimme Shelter, named after the ill-fated concert that was billed as "Woodstock of the West" and drew about 300,000 fans.
After carefully reviewing footage from the disastrous event in the past year, sheriff's investigators debunked a theory that a second Hells Angel stabbed Hunter several times after Passaro did so twice.
Passaro, who whooped "Yeeoww!" when his not-guilty verdict was read in the Alameda County courtroom, drowned in 1985. Sgt. Scott Dudek said he spoke with Passaro's attorney and both agreed that "there never was a second stabber," the sergeant said.
"I'm not reopening the case unless credible new information comes forward that we can actually verify and leads us to a different pathway," Dudek said last week.
Dudek said he is closing case number 69-SO2262.
When Dudek took over the crimes against persons unit in 2003, he began reviewing "cold cases" and realized that despite Passaro's acquittal, the case was never closed because of the "second stabber" theory.
An autopsy showed that Hunter was high on methamphetamine when he died, and there had been talk that the Hells Angels — hired as stage guards in exchange for $500 in beer — thought he was a threat to the band because he had a gun.
