AVON HERITAGE DUCT TAPE FESTIVAL
~~~~~~~~
June 17-19, 2005 Avon, OH Any plans for Father's Day? According to the folks in Avon - "Dads are like duct tape" - they come in a variety of sizes and colors, they can fix just about anything, and in June both will be honored for their hard work and unbelievable feats.
The Avon Heritage Duct Tape Festival returns for a second time, showcasing duct tape in all forms including art, sculptures, fashion and more. It will be a celebration of duct tape, its enthusiasts, and its wacky and fun uses. The festival also honors the history and heritage of the city that is proclaimed the "Duct Tape Capital" of the world, home of Duck® brand duct tape. Rides, games and food will be part of the celebration, along with a car show, steak fry and a duct tape parade!
Use paint brushes to dust cracks and hard to reach places in telephones, stereos, computer keyboards, etc. A small paint brush is also useful for cleaning difficult to reach areas.
It was obvious to everyone backstage that Vince McMahon was blown away by the ECW PPV. But of course, he didn't let anyone know that. The general consensus is that Vince doesn't know what to do next with ECW.
If you plan to install new shades or blinds to help keep your home warm in the winter and cool in the summer, consider mounting them outside the frames.
If they're installed inside window frames, air can leak along the edges. Outside mountings help reduce the flow of cold air in the winter and hot air in the summer into the room.
When cleaning your computer or TV screens never spray directly on to the glass. The cleaner may drip down the screen and damage the components. Spray the cleaner onto a soft cloth and then wipe the screen.
Paint is cheaper than wallpaper. Use paint effects such as sponge painting, rag rolling, and stenciling to add pattern and interest to your walls.
Cars get about 21% more mileage at 55 mph then at
70 mph. Better planning reduces the need for speeding, to get there in time. Also, if you don´t speed, you won´t have to worry about getting a speeding ticket - which costs money.
JERKLAW IS BACK AT IT
Janklow seeks to have law license reinstated
DAVID KRANZ
June 12, 2005 The Disciplinary Board of the State Bar Association will take testimony this week in Rapid City on reinstating Bill Janklow’s license to practice law.
Janklow, a former four-term governor and past member of the U.S. House of Representatives, voluntarily suspended his license a year and a half ago after being convicted of second-degree manslaughter in the death of Randy Scott of Hardwick, Minn., in a car-motorcycle accident.
The board will make a recommendation to the South Dakota Supreme Court.
That recommendation could range from reinstatement to continued suspension.
After five years on Spike TV, World Wrestling Entertainment will move its highly rated ''Monday Night Raw"
broadcast to the USA Network in October. Also, the UPN network will move WWE's ''Smackdown" show to Friday nights beginning in September, after it spent nearly six years on Thursday nights.
The WWE's two-hour weekly wrestling shows routinely draw the highest ratings of any show on Spike TV and UPN, attracting between 3.5 million and 5 million viewers nationwide each week. By picking up ''Raw" on Oct. 3, USA will likely become the most-watched station on cable every Monday. ''Raw" routinely places among the five highest-rated shows on all of cable in a given week, and sometimes is the most watched.
WWE relies on TV largely to market the conflicts and characters that attract buys for its bimonthly $34.95 pay-per-view events.
WWE's move to USA is a homecoming of sorts. ''Raw" was an institution on USA for seven years prior to switching to TNN in 2000. TNN renamed itself Spike TV and built its ''First Network for Men" rebranding campaign around WWE's programming, which draws a decidedly male audience.
Similarly, USA will put WWE at the center of its upcoming campaign to revamp the station with new graphics and new advertising techniques focusing on the characters of the station's programs. The plan is to debut the new look of USA on July 8, said Bonnie Hammer, president of the network.
Another part of the USA deal is the return of ''Saturday Night's Main Event" on NBC (USA is owned by NBC Universal). The WWE is on NBC for two Saturday night specials this year in place of ''Saturday Night Live" reruns.
Spike TV announced in March that it will not renew the WWE's television contract, partly because WWE was asking too much to renew. WWE spokesman Gary Davis said USA put forward the best offer. ''We felt we had a responsibility to our shareholders to offer the program to other cable networks to see if there was interest," Davis said. ''To not only be on USA, but then to have late-night specials on NBC, those are things Spike couldn't offer."
Just because you delete a file within Windows doesn't mean that it's gone. On the contrary, within Windows there's plenty of evidence the file existed (temporary backups, earlier saved drafts), often stored in spaces where there appears to be no data (this is called slack space). The solution is to overwrite the data with new data (usually ones and zeros) and to do that several times--the more the better.
There are several free and downloadable products that work. One, Eraser, is notable because it will overwrite your data up to 35 times. By comparison, the government's own standard is 7 passes. The data shredder included within the Steganos Security Suite can overwrite data up to 100 times, more than enough to purge any data.
TALLAHASSEE – Following last year’s unprecedented
hurricane season and to better assist local communities, the
Department has created guidelines for efficiently operating debris
staging areas, which are used to temporarily store and process
hurricane-generated waste.
“The volume of debris following a hurricane can cause health
and environmental hazards,” said Division of Waste Management
Director Mary Jean Yon. “With these new plans in place, the
State can better partner with city and county environmental
agencies to address the timely removal of hurricane debris.”
During a state of emergency, field authorizations for local
staging areas may be requested by providing oral or written notice
to the DEP describing the staging area design, location, operating
plans and contact information of the site manager.
Upon approval, the Department sets out management options for
hurricane-generated debris. The new DEP guidelines provide
operators of temporary debris staging areas with advice on their
location, operation and closure, as well as the types of waste
that may be stored at staging areas.
HDMI (high-definition multimedia
interface) is the latest and greatest connection option for your
HDTV. It was specially designed for HDTV because it carries both
HDTV video and digital surround sound -- unlike other connections
where video and audio are separated.
HDMI has a couple of advantages in an
HDTV system:
- You need only one HDMI
cable to connect both HDTV video and surround-sound digital
audio signals.
- HDMI has extremely
high-bandwidth technology (5GB per second). It has extra
bandwidth to accommodate future HDTV formats.
HDMI connections often require the HDCP
copy-protection system for true HDTV video performance. If you're
using any HDMI connections, make sure that all your HDTV
components support HDCP.
