Opening statements next week for Hells Angels trial in Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS A jury's been seated, but opening statements won't be until next week in the federal trial of 11 Hells Angels motorcycle club members in Las Vegas.
The bikers are facing racketeering, violence and weapons charges stemming from a deadly brawl with another biker gang in 2002.
A judge granted the delay to Tuesday morning after one defense lawyer suffered a leg injury during the weekend and had to have surgery.
The Hells Angels members are the first of 42 facing trial after pleading not guilty to charges in the deadly fight with rival Mongols motorcycle club members during a biker rally in Laughlin.
Each defendant faces the possibility of life in prison on the most serious charge
racketeering, attempted murder.

Use a clean paintbrush to dust a wicker chair. The bristles will reach into the tiny crevices that a dust towel misses.
To create a dust cloth that leaves a shine, soak your normal dust cloth in a mixture of two cups water, two tablespoons vinegar and four drops lemon oil. Once the cloth is soaked through, remove it and wring it out, then store it in a glass jar with a lid until you want to use it.

By purchasing a simple dryer vent control device, you can use the heat from the dryer for your basement or garage.
No need to buy an expensive espresso machine to make steamed milk for your morning latte. Just heat milk on the stovetop for a short amount of time. Remove the milk from the heat and beat with an electric mixer until foamy.
The best way to clean a grill is to first heat up the coals. As the coals heat, they will burn off a lot of the dried-on food. Use a grill brush to clear off any remaining particles.
See a rain shower coming on? Run out and spray the outdoor furniture with cleaner, then run back inside and watch the rain do the cleaning.

Feeling the need to get ready for cold weather does not mean we're going back in time. Our parents or grandparents needed to make autumn preparations. If we're smart, we'll do the same, even if what WE do has changed.
What do we need to do in the autumn, before the cold weather comes?
1. Have furnaces checked, change the filter, and most of all check Your smoke alarm batteries.
2. Clean out coat closets. Check sizes, wear and so on, to see what needs to be replaced before cold weather.
3. Have our cars tuned up and ready for cold weather driving. Make sure our tires are ok for ice and/or snow.
4. Buy what's on sale now. Can, dehydrate and freeze produce that is cheap right now for frugal winter eating.
5. Take a look at window casings and doors and make any repairs that are needed. Replace caulking, tighten hinges, install weather stripping.
6. Take advantage of sales on garden tools, paper, pens, pencils and fresh root vegetables.
7. Look to nature to provide decorations for our homes.
Everything from rocks, twigs, to "weeds" can be used creatively.
The more we prepare before winter comes, the less winter will cost us and that's a FRUGAL fact.

IRVINE, Calif., -- University of California-Irvine scientists say human stem cells improved motor function in partially paralyzed mice. The stem cells injected into the mice
report edly developed into viable neural cells and improve motor function in the partially paralyzed mice. Using human neural stem cells obtained from a stem-cell bank, Brian Cummings and colleagues in the university's department of physical medicine and rehabilitation said the mice, 16 weeks later, showed long- term recovery of motor function, compared with control mice.
In addition, the injected human neural stem cells survived, migrated to the injured site, and developed into multiple different neural cell types. The researchers said their study's results suggest human neural stem cells derived from fetal tissue and expanded into cell banks could have benefits for treating injuries of the central nervous system. The re- search appears in this week's early online edition of the journal of the National Academy of Sciences.

Recently large demonstrations have taken place across the country protesting the fact that Congress is finally addressing the issue of illegal immigration. Certain people are angry that the US might protect its own borders, might make it harder to sneak into this country and, once here, to stay indefinitely Let me see if I correctly understand the thinking behind these protests.
Let's say I break into your house. Let's say that when you discover me in your house, you insist that I leave.
But I say, "I've made all the beds and washed the dishes and did the laundry and swept the floors; I've done all the things you don't like to do. I'm hard-working and honest (except for when I broke into your house).
According to the protesters, not only must you let me stay, you must add me to your family's insurance plan, educate my kids, and provide other benefits to me and to my family (my husband will do your yard work because he too is hard-working and honest, except for that breaking in part).
If you try to call the police or force me out, I will call my friends who will picket your house carrying signs that proclaim my right to be there. It's only fair, after all, because you have a nicer house than I do, and I'm just trying to better myself. I'm hard-working and honest, um, except for well, you know.
And what a deal it is for me!! I live in your house, contributing only a fraction of the cost of my keep, and there is nothing you can do about it without being accused of selfishness, prejudice and being an anti-housebreaker. Oh yeah, and I want you to learn my language so you can communicate with me Why can't people see how ridiculous this is?! Only in America...
if you agree, pass it on (in English). Share it if you see the value of it as a good smile.
If not blow it off along with your future Social Security funds.

A man and his ever-nagging wife went on vacation to Jerusalem. While they were there, the wife passed away.
The undertaker told the husband, "You can have her shipped home for $5,000, or you can bury her here, in the Holy Land, for $150." The man thought about it and told him he would just have her shipped home.
The undertaker asked, "Why would you spend $5,000 to ship your wife home, when it would be wonderful to be buried here and you would spend only $150?"
The man replied, "Long ago a man died here, was buried here, and three days later he rose from the dead. I just can't take that chance."

HERALD STAFF REPORT
SARASOTA - About 50 life-size clown statues painted by area artists will be on display in downtown Sarasota along Main Street and Central Avenue beginning on Oct. 1. The statues will remain downtown through April until they are scheduled to be auctioned off at Marie Selby Botanical Gardens on May 12.
Money raised at the auction will help fund programs that care for pediatric patients with advanced illnesses and provide grief counseling to children who have lost loved ones, said David Glaser, the director of public relations for TideWell Hospice and Palliative Care.
"The program also has clown volunteers who undergo special training and instruction and visit about 200 patients every month," Glaser said. "So, we organized this event last year because we thought it was a great way to raise money, but also to pay tribute to Sarasota's long history and heritage with the circus."
But citizens have a chance to see the clowns before they hit the street. The TideWell Hospice is offering a sneak preview of its "Clowning Around Town" public art event on Friday from 7-10 p.m. at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Center.

I received this an email recently.
Subject: Very touching story and message!
The daughter of a Soldier Last week I was in Atlanta , Georgia attending a conference. While I was in the airport, returning home, I heard several people behind me beginning to clap and cheer. I immediately turned around and witnessed one of the greatest act's of patriotism I have ever seen.
Moving thru the terminal was a group of soldiers in their camo's, as they began heading to their gate everyone (well almost everyone) was abruptly to their feet with their hands waving and cheering. When I saw the soldiers, probably 30-40 of them, being applauded and cheered for it hit me. I'm not alone. I'm not the only red blooded American who still loves this country and supports our troops and their families.
Of course I immediately stopped and began clapping for these young unsung heroes who are putting their lives on the line everyday for us so we can go to school, work and home without fear or reprisal. Just when I thought I could not be more proud of my country or of our service men and women a young girl, not more than 6 or 7 years old, ran up to one of the male soldiers. He kneeled down and said "hi," the little girl then she asked him if he would give something to her daddy for her. The young soldier, he didn't look any older than maybe 22 himself, said he would try and what did she want to give to her daddy. Then suddenly the little girl grabbed the neck of this soldier, gave him the biggest hug she could muster and then kissed him on the cheek.
The mother of the little girl, who said her daughters name was Courtney, told the young soldier that her husband was a Marine and had been in Iraq for 11 months now. As the mom was explaining how much her daughter, Courtney, missed her father, the young soldier began to tear up. When this temporarily single mom was done explaining her situation, all of the soldiers huddled together for a brief second. Then one of the other servicemen pulled out a military looking walkie-talkie. They started playing with the device and talking back and forth on it.
After about 10-15 seconds of this, the young soldier walked back over to Courtney, bent down and said this to her, "I spoke to your daddy and he told me to give this to you." He then hugged this little girl that he had just met and gave her a kiss on the cheek. He finished by saying "your daddy told me to tell you that he loves you more than anything and he is coming home very soon."
The mom at this point was crying almost uncontrollably and as the young soldier stood to his feet he saluted Courtney and her mom. I was standing no more than 6 feet away from this entire event unfolded. As the soldiers began to leave, heading towards their gate, people resumed their applause. As I stood there applauding and looked around, their were very few dry eyes, including my own. That young soldier in one last act of selflessness, turned around and blew a kiss to Courtney with a tear rolling down his cheek.
We need to remember everyday all of our soldiers and their families and thank God for them and their sacrifices.
At the end of the day, it's good to be an American.
Red Friday Just keeping you "in the loop" so you'll know what's going on in case this takes off.
RED FRIDAYS ----- Very soon, you will see a great many people wearing Red every Friday. The reason? Americans who support our troops used to be called the "silent majority". We are no longer silent, and are voicing our love for God, country and home in record breaking numbers. We are not organized, boisterous or over-bearing. We get no liberal media coverage on TV, to reflect our message or our opinions.
Many Americans, like you, me and all our friends, simply want to recognize that the vast majority of America supports our troops.
Our idea of showing solidarity and support for our troops with dignity and respect starts this Friday -and continues each and every Friday until the troops all come home, sending a deafening message that.. Every red-blooded American who supports our men and women afar will wear something red.
By word of mouth, press, TV -- let's make the United States on every Friday a sea of red much like a homecoming football game in the bleachers.
If every one of us who loves this country will share this with acquaintances, co-workers, friends, and family. It will not be long before the USA is covered in RED and it will let our troops know the once "silent" majority is on their side more than ever, certainly more than the media lets on.
The first thing a soldier says when asked "What can we do to make things better for you?" is...We need your support and your prayers.
Let's get the word out and lead with class and dignity, by example; and wear something red every Friday.
IF YOU AGREE -- THEN SEND THIS ON IF YOU COULD CARE LESS THEN HIT THE DELETE BUTTON --- IT IS YOUR CHOICE. WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, ONLY BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE.
THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED---- SO WEAR RED! --- MAY GOD HELP AMERICA TO BECOME ONE NATION, UNDER GOD.
HAVE A GREAT DAY.
Thank you Babs
